How Do You Push Yourself To Be A Better You?

Hey Beautiessssss,

As you know I'm in the fashion and beauty industry. I'm a social media influencer, as well as a signed plus size model. Therefore, I'm constantly trying to better myself. I am always looking for ways to improve my worth ethic, my content, and my health, both mentally and physically. In orders to properly better yourself, it needs to start from the inside. I have many insecurities, believe it or not, and I am constantly finding ways to overcome them. I know I use my platform to express body positivity and I 10000000% stand by it. But I am human and I have my days where my insecurities about my body eat at me. Sometimes I find myself insulting my own self. I was watching Jada Pinkett Smith, "Red Table Talk" one day and Jada, her mother and her daughter did an exercise where they had to list at least three things they love about themselves. It was hard for them to list them! It's just so much easier to list all the things we do not like about ourselves. After watching that episode I try to do this exercise daily, and on my hards days, I will force myself to list even more things that I love about myself. I find this very helpful and it helps create a positive energy.

Which brings me to my next point. YOU CANNOT BE A BETTER YOU WITH NEGATIVE ENERGY AROUND YOU! Meaning that you need to be mindful of the people you keep around. Energy is contagious and if you're constantly around someone who radiates negative energy, it's going to rub off on you. So that friend that always throws shade at you low-key, or the friend that is constantly in drama and just stagnant in her life- you need to keep a stiff arm with them and love them from a distance. I can honestly say that my friends, family and boyfriend motivate me to better myself and I can always count on them to put a smile on my face.

In essence to being around positive energy, feed your soul. I tend to listen to podcasts that are informative and funny, I read a lot of self help books and biographies of my favorite celebrities that inspire me, I also watch a lot of dance videos which helps get my creative juices flowing. (I'll be sure to make a list of my favorite podcasts and books in the near future!) I find when I feed my mind with these things, I work harder and start creating more.

Last but not least, one of my favorite ways to pushing myself to being a better me is dressing nice and looking the part. Sounds so cliche, but I'm serious. If you look good, you feel good. Remember those insecurities we spoke about, well dressing up and feeling yourself in the mirror can do a lot. Every now and then throw on some lingerie (like this cute set from Parfait Lingerie that I am wearing!) and walk around the house, take some pics, even if its for yourself.  Budget accordingly so every month you can have a mini shopping spree. It's 2018 there are so many plus size brands with bomb selections so there is no excuse!
